Reinstalling

It's not unusual for people to want to do clean re-installations of Jomres, e.g. they want to start with a clean sheet or because an initial installation was corrupted by a mysql server's failure partway through an installation (yes, it happens, although fortunately not often).

The goal of a re-installation is to remove all of the existing Jomres data from the mysql database, and overwrite any changed files with the original Jomres files. The easiest way to do this though is to use the administrator area -> Jomres -> upgrade functionality, even if you've already got the most recent version of Jomres installed. This is because you need a copy of install_jomres.php, which you've most likely deleted after originally installing Jomres.

Take your server off-line in Joomla's Global Configuration. Once that's done go to the Upgrade feature from the administrator -> Jomres control panel and follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade. When you've done that, you'll be automatically taken to install_jomres.php.

On this page you'll be given two options. The first is to update the database by pressing the Go button, but we don't want to do this yet. Instead, further down the pages is an option to Trash Tables. Click this to completely remove all of the Jomres tables from your database, then click the Back button on your browser to go back to the Go button page page. Click it. You should now have a default installation of Jomres again with some sample data installed.
