First Steps - property details

We could now, at this point, go to the booking form and create a test booking, but before we do that, let's make a small change. On this same page you'll note that you have another tab marked Property. Click on that now to see the following:

The icon with the spanner denotes a link that you can click to edit something, in this case the property. Next to that is a big red X, that is the same as the red X in the toolbar above (option 21) that'll allow you to publish your property. Click the edit icon to be taken to the edit property page.

Note that this image is not complete, there are more fields off the page, but it shows the important points for the purpose of this page in the guide.

Here you can see a few elements from the edit property page. Your page may look slightly different depending on the editor your site admin has chosen to offer you. In this page, no editor is enabled so you can save using the normal black Save icon, but if you have the flash editor, then you must use the submit button available under any of the editor sections (off the page in this screenshot).

It's quite likely that your website administrator has enabled the google mapping feature of the system. If they have then by default when a user views your page then a map will appear showing the location of your property, assuming that google can find your property based on the address details you've provided in this form, so try to be as accurate as possible when filling in your address details.

If the google mapping technology (know as geocoding) cannot find your property through your address then you have the option to use the Lat and Long input fields which will be passed instead of your address and a map will be based on that information instead of your address, so only fill these fields if you need to.

Finally, you should fill the email address field here with a valid address that you check regularly, as this is the address that your booking advisory emails are sent to.

All of the other fields are self explanatory. Try to fill them with as much useful information as you can so that guests can find out as much information about your property as they can. Put something eye catching in the Property Details page as this is the information that's showed in the property listing when prospective guests search the site.

When you're ready click Save to store the settings that you've chosen for your property.

We'll go now to the booking form to make a test booking.
