Before we start
Before you even touch the system we encourage you to first sit down and consider the property that you'll be configuring as there are a few things you need to know before you can properly start.
The first and most important thing is, is it a cottage, villa or apartment type property, IE are you renting out the entire property for the period of each booking, or is it a guest house/hotel/pension type property, where you're placing different parties in specific rooms?
If it's a villa, then in the parlance of this guide, it's what's know as a Single Room Property. Don't worry if your villa etc has more than one room, that's not what we're referring to here, but suffice to say that if you see a reference to SRPs in this guide, we're talking to you. If it's a hotel type property, then it's an MRP (you knew that that stood for Multiroom Property, didn't you?)
The configuration options between the two types are similar in many respects however it's important that this particular aspect be clear when we come to configure your property as some options will differ. For example, an SRP will not be able to configure different rooms in the system because rooms are used to denote availability, so SRPs cannot create more than one room for their property, whereas MRPs can create as many as they need.
Next, you need to know that there are three different ways of configuring your rates, or tariffs. These are known as
Normal tariff editing mode
Micromanage editing mode
Advanced editing mode
Which you use depends on a number of questions. By default, the editing mode for both MRPs and SRPs is the Normal editing mode, these modes look quite different, but in essence they're the same. They allow you to very simply set up a series of prices for your room or property type that'll be valid for the next 10 years.
