General description

This plugin allows you to create, manage and sell tours with Jomres. Basically, guests will book places in a tour. So if we have a tour called 'London Tour by Bus', a guest would be able to book seats in this bus. A tour can be many things, like a cinema, a restaurant, a trip or anything that offers the possibility for a guest to book a place. Beside places in a tour bus, you can offer table reservations for a restaurant. These options show up on the booking form as extras, but you have more flexibility when configuring them than with normal extras.

Obtaining Jintour

The jintour plugin can be purchased from the Jomres.net online shop and comes packed as a zip archive.

This is now a free plugin available through the Jomres Plugin Manager.

Installation

   Jintour screen after installation
   Go to your Jomres control panel (backend admin) and click on the Plugins button.
2. Use the Jomres 3rd party plugin installer (NOT the Joomla installer). Click 'Browse' and select the jintour.zip archive, then click install. After completing the installation, you`ll see your new plugin in the Third Party Plugins list.

Configuration

All plugin configuration is done from the frontend, when logged in as property manager or super property manager. Receptionists don`t have access to jintour plugin settings. The plugin created a new button called 'Jintour (Jomres Integrated Tours)' on the second row between the 'Extras admin' and 'Upload slideshow images'. Click on this button and you`ll be taken to a new screen where you can crate your tour profiles.

Create a new profile

Let`s say we want to add a 'London by bus' tour that is available only in the weekends of the summer season.

1. Click on the New button and you`ll be taken to a new screen where you can enter your profile (tour) details.
2. Profile title: In our case, this will be 'London tour by bus'.
3. Description: Here you can write the tour description, what places will be visited, etc.
4. Select from the dropdowns how many adult places and how many children places are available in the bus.
5. Select from the dropdown the tax that applies to this tour price.
6. Select season start and season end. In our case, we will select 01/06 to 31/08.
7. Check the boxes for the days of the week that the tour is available. In our case, the days will be Saturday and Sunday.
8. Set the price for one adult.
9. Set the price for one children.
10. Save the new activity profile and you`ll be taken back to the previous screen where you can see your new tour/activity profile.

Generating tours based on your activity profile settings

Once you have created a tour/activity profile you will then need to generate tours/activities based on that profile's settings. Create the tour/activity, then click the Green arrow icon next to that profile to create the tours/activities themselves. Once the tours/activities have been created you will be able to delete individual tours/activities if you wish.

New in Jintour 1.1, you can also create tours that are available to all booking forms, not just individual property booking forms. These are managed the same way as property specific tours via a new button is added to the administrator area Jomres Control panel.

Jintour v2

Version 2 of Jintour is an extension of the original functionality of Jintour. Whereas in Jintour v1 resource bookings are an addition to bookings for, say, a room, in v2 you can create properties that are pure Jintour resource focussed. One possible example of this use might be for example for booking tours that are not related to a specific property.

Note that Jintour v2 requires v4.5.7 or greater of Jomres.

When a new property is created, the manager adding the property has the option, in addition to creating a property as a Rental or Real-estate property, to add a Tour type property. When this option is chosen and the property is created, this property then is effectively the same as a normal Jomres property however in the booking form the room booking functionality isn't used and instead just the resource and optional extras functionality is possible. Jintour v2 resources are managed just like in v1 (discussed above).

Jintour properties are included in search results (although, obviously, not availability searches which are room specific searches) like normal Jomres hotels. This means that you can create a property type for your Jintour properties, if you so wish.

We are delighted with this additional new functionality which extends Jomres from being purely for booking hotels/villas to include also tours or other resources and leads us towards our goal of making Jomres the only booking application you'll ever need.
